Free Emotion – by Farhad Bandesh
Free Emotion is music I wrote after the 24-day siege in Lombrum on Manus Island PNG – Australia’s detention centre.
For more than three weeks we were denied access to water, food, medical care and electricity. I was beaten and removed violently by force. My guitars were stolen along with all my property.
This was my feelings that I wrote into music after this happened.
Farhad Bandesh worked as a guitar maker prior to seeking asylum in Australia in 2013. He was imprisoned on Manus Island in Papua New Guinea for almost seven years. He is now imprisoned in Melbourne, Australia. Farhad says;
“I have created many songs and artwork while imprisoned, it has helped keep me alive. When I create something, when I make it, it means I am not forgotten.”
“Thank you for supporting my art. May we all be free soon.”
