Join the refugees protesting around the clock

Friday 16 August, 5pm onwards at the Department of Home Affairs, 808 Bourke Street, Docklands

Refugees from the Iranian, Sri Lankan and other communities are protesting outside the Department of Home Affairs in Docklands, calling for permanent visas after up to 12 years in limbo.

The protest runs 24 hours a day, with people sleeping there overnight.

It started a month ago outside the office of Clare O’Neil in Oakleigh and transferred to Docklands when O’Neil was moved from the position of Home Affairs Minister.

The refugees welcome visitors at any time.

RAC supporters have joined the protests several times — but we are calling on supporters to make a special effort to turn up in numbers this Friday.
