Report: Rally Outside Broadmeadows Detention Centre

On Saturday the 9th of July, Refugee Action Collective held a rally outside the Broadmeadows Detention Centre calling for the release of all children from detention. The rally was calling to account the Labor government for their failure to release all children from detention as per their promise made in October 2010. It is now July and there are still over 350 children in detention including around 50 in Broadmeadows.

Around 200 people, of all ages and backgrounds, including families with small children, marched up to the detention centre after speeches were held in a near by car park where the local community were exposed to the fact a detention centre exists down the road.
