Whoever becomes the new Prime Minister RAC will call a protest on the first Sunday after that at 2pm State Library calling for Racists Out! and Refugees In!
Turnbull, Dutton,Morrison and Bishop are all forever stained by the crimes of Manus and Nauru. Scott Morrison is once again Home Affairs & Immigration Minister, he bears responsibility for the murder of Reza Barati for when he last held that office, and he was subsequently caught out lying about the events. Julie Bishop was acting PM for part of the Manus seige while water, electricty and sewerage were cut off for refugees, she told them Australia couldn’t guarantee their safety and wouldn’t ever resettle them here. It would be a crime if Scott Morrison,Julie Bishop, or Peter Dutton became PM became Prime Minister.
Peter Dutton has been particularly odious as Home Affairs & Immigration Minister. He has fought against bringing sick refugees including children to Australia for medical treatment; most recently a 12 year old boy at grave risk after being on hunger strike for two weeks.
Dutton claimed that “illiterate” refugees would both take jobs and “they would languish in unemployment queues and on Medicare and the rest of it”. He boycotted the apology to the Stolen Generations.
He smeared the whole Lebanese Muslim community as responsible for terrorism, saying that Lebanese people should not have come to Australia.
He has been responsible for vicious racism, claiming people in Melbourne were afraid to eat in restaurants because of “African gangs”. At the same time he campaigned for the rights of white South African farmers including proposing giving them special humanitarian visas. Meanwhile tens of thousands of Rohinygan farmers facing ethnic cleansing in Myanmar, are ignored by the Australian government.
Dutton isn’t fit for any office.
The Coalition’s anti-refugee cruelty must end. Now is the time to step up our efforts to kick the racists out and bring the refugee here.
