6:30 Mon Jul 24 | Forum: How Can We Break the Bipartisan Support for Offshore Processing?
When: 6:30-8:30pm, Monday July 24th
Where: Trades Hall, 54 Victoria St, Melbourne
Speakers:
Ged Kearney – President ACTU
Michele O’Neil – State Secretary TCFUA & Labor 4 Refugees
Aran Mylvaganam – Tamil refugee & FSU organiser
Lucy Honan – RAC & Teachers 4 Refugees
The Labor leadership’s support for refugee deterrence and their silence on ‘Bring Them Here’ helps the Coalition get away with the offshore camps. But the gulf between Labor’s voting base and its leadership is growing. 68% of Labor voters now support bringing the refugees on Manus and Nauru to Australia. This meeting will look at how we can widen the cracks within the Labor Party over refugees and break the bipartisan refugee cruelty.
