Speak out against Turnbull: Let Them Stay!
When: 6pm Saturday 27th February
Where: Corner of Swanston and Lonsdale Streets, Melbourne
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and opposition leader Bill Shorten will be speaking at the Greek festival in Lonsdale St.
Despite Immigration Minister Dutton’s backdown that saw baby Asha released to community detention, the Turnbull government continues to insit that she and all 267 vulnerable asylum seekers and refugees will be returned to Nauru. Turnbull has also rejected the State Premiers’ offers of resettlement.
Come and tell Turbull in person to Let Them Stay, and to Close Manus and Nauru.
We will have flyers in English and Greek putting the case to Let Them Stay, and have approached people from Greek community organisations to help lead the protest. Our speak out from 6pm will be outside the festival itself (Turnbull is said to be speaking at 7pm). We will have a RAC stall from 5.30pm, to hand out flyers and distribute placards to Welcome Refugees & Let Them Stay, We encourage those attending the festival to take placards to Turnbull’s speech.
