The Victorian Trades Hall Council supports the just and fair treatment of asylum seekers who look to Australia for protection.
The VTHC acknowledges that seeking asylum is a human right and that many unionists have had to seek asylum from violent governments.
Those who seek asylum should not be processed offshore and should be treated with dignity, respect and benevolence.
Trades Hall opposes:
the processing of asylum seekers offshore and
condemns the detention of children.
We advocate for work rights, Medicare rights and access to government-provided services for all asylum seekers.
