who would ever think this day would come?

The Australian Immigration authorities in Islamabad are processing the Off shore Humanitarian visa application for the family of nine from Lombok - urgently - at request from Canberra.

We may have trials and tribulations with the Labor government on aspects of refugee policy in the future but on this grand day we can thank them magnanimously for a great move forward.

The Lombok group have been waiting since 2001 for a safe place to call home. The previous government paid IOM to keep them hidden.

With this humanitarian response Senator Evans has signalled that the bad old days are over for the Lombok caseload.

We hope that the other 12 asylum seekers also have a chance to apply and be considered.

Thank you all for your phone calls emails and faxes to the Minister's office alerting him to the plight of the Afghan asylum seekers. The family have asked me to thank you all for your support.

Please ring Senator Evans offices and congratulate him on a fantastic decision.
