Do you believe there is any way that ASIO or the government will be influenced by these hunger stirkes and protests and change their processes or respond positively to the strikers' cases? They could start with Afghanistan of course, but then there is Africa that is in real need - Somalia for one small example (but we'd have to watch out for the pirates there). We are a rich nation and it's a disgrace that we don't make every effort to bring people over here in a safe and comfortable manner. Honestly, using fishing boats to ferry people is just not on. It's all the governments fault, and the lousy opposition. With a more welcoming attitude to the poor asylum seekers there would be no need for them to get on leaky boats in the first place. And why bother with visa's? - just let them in and give the citizenship straight off - they deserve it Gawd bless them!.
